Abstract
Subclavian vein stenosis is a well-recognized complication of subclavian vein catheterization for chronic hemodialysis. The incidence has been reprorted as 20~50% in hemodialysis patients in whom insertion of subclavian catheter was done for
temoral
vascular access. The stenosis has been successfully treated by angioplasty with immediate relief of symptoms of venous obstruction but there have been no reports of long term follow up of these patients. We had reported a patient with subclavian
stenosis treated by balloon catheter angioplasty on 1992. After 18 months, this patient re-visited our hosptial with subsequent symptomatic re-stenosis and then treated successfully by balloon catheter angioplasty.
The authers report this case with a review of literature.
